Nokia selects Sybase to ensure security appliance management scalability
~ new global licencing agreement signed ~

Stockholm – 30 of September, 2003 – Sybase Sweden today announced a new global agreement with Nokia. The agreement allows Nokia to license
Sybase database technology.

The technology Nokia will be licensing is the Sybase SQL Anywhere Studio, Sybase's market leading mobile database.
This technology provides operators and large corporations with the ability to sustain and manage a network of security appliances.

"This agreement further strengthens our position on the mobile market as it marks the beginning of an exciting partnership with one of the strongest system vendors in the marketplace today," says Steve Shine SVP & General Manager, Sybase EMEA.

“Nokia has selected Sybase SQL Anywhere Studio as the underlying database of Nokia Horizon Manager, a centralized deployment, maintenance, and
recovery management solution for local and remote security appliance infrastructure,” said Denis Sullivan, Senior Manager,  Nokia. “This database will enable us to extend Nokia Horizon Manager’s features to allow multiple simultaneous administrators, a distributed, synchronized database environment, and much greater performance and scalability.
